July’s Birchbox: Glamour’s The Five Senses

I’ve been a Birchbox subscriber for about three months now, but this is the first time I’ve written a review on the contents of my monthly box. I keep meaning to do it but the items in them haven’t really impressed me very much until this one.

Birchbox is a great monthly subscription service that offers a wide selection of samples that are sent out around the middle of every month. It’s great for everyone — Whether you’re new to the cosmetics/beauty scene and have no idea where to start (hello!), or a seasoned beauty expert looking to try out the industry’s latest new fragrance or mascara before buying.

You sign up and pay $10 per month and the box you get should include between 5 and 8 samples of everything from food to perfume to skin care products to make-up. It’s very diverse, and I’ve been pretty pleased with most of the things I’ve gotten. You can even write reviews of the products you get each month to earn Birchbox points — Every 100 points = $10 to spend in the store on full-sized products! I’m up to 250 — Pretty awesome!

My box came in the mail yesterday and was waiting for me very patiently when I got off of work. I was pretty excited — $10 a month for a box that includes new, unique, great beauty product samples to help me broaden my cosmetics horizons puts me in quite a tizzy!

I knew that this one was sponsored by Glamour magazine, but I always avoid peeking on the site to see which items will be shipped in the boxes because I love the element of surprise involved in the unveiling. 🙂

This is my box, with all my surprises inside! There are different boxes sent out which include different things based on what you entered in the preferences part of the setup of your account. They try to tailor the products to you as an individual, but there are thousands of subscribers so sometimes you may get something you can’t really do anything with.

This month’s goodies:

Oscar de la Renta’s  Live in Love Fragrance

This was okay — A little too strong for me. I got a headache about 15 minutes after trying it out.

Boscia’s Green Tea Blotting Linense

These are fantastic — They’re made from green tea leaves and work as blotting papers for oily skin on the go. The papers smell nice and are really pretty — Almost too pretty to use! 😛

Jouer’s Luminizing Moisture Tint

This is a pretty cool tinted moisturizer that goes on smooth and helps keep your face dewy and pretty without being overly oily. I have combination type skin, so I did notice that the normally oily parts of my face were made a bit more… Shiny. But on the dryer/normal parts, this worked like a charm.

LÄRABAR® über in “Bananas Foster”

I love Larabars, so this was really cool to have in the box. It’s gluten-free, which is awesome, and is a nice balance of sweet and salty.

Birchbox Exclusive Ear Buds

These are an extra little fun thing that Birchbox added in this month — You can log on to Spotify to find the workout that the folks at Glamour put together in honor of this month’s box, and the ear buds are this awesomely vibrant neon green and pink combination that I love.

Eyeko London’s Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black

This was my absolute favorite part of July’s box! I love eyeliner and I’ve recently started using the liquid version again, which I haven’t done since high school. This goes on super easily and doesn’t irritate my eyes or make them water at all. It’s a very dark black (not that weird black that turns gray-ish after an hour) and has amazing lasting power. I loooove it! 🙂

Has anyone else gotten their boxes? Are you interested in signing up? If you are, use  this link right here to do so! It makes a great gift for a friend, girlfriend or even mother! They have a guy’s Birchbox too — for all you metrosexuals out there! 😛
