Top 5 Friday: Favorite Albums
In addition to my Instaweek feature, I wanted to have something else I could update with weekly that would be fun for me to write as well as neat to look back on later and see how I’ve changed. I decided that the easiest thing to write about would be things I like — And I love making lists.
So I’m staring my Top 5 Friday feature where each week I’ll post a list of my Top 5 favorite things in every category I can think of! I’m super excited because the possibilities are endless — Top 5 favorite superheroes, books, car chase scenes, Bath and Body Works scents, iPhone apps, etc etc! There are so many random things to choose from that I’ll quite possibly NEVER run out and will be able to keep this going forever! 😀
Since I’ve been on my computer quite a bit for the last few days, I’ve been using Spotify to listen to lots and lots of music and it’s been really fun to revisit whole albums that I love and remember back to when I first bought or heard them.
Top 5 Favorite Albums!
Brand New – Deja Entendu
Brand New has been one of my top favorite bands for years and while Your Favorite Weapon is a really, really close second to my absolute favorite album of theirs, Deja Entendu will always be my #1. I could listen to it over and over again and it was the first album that got me into them to begin with. “Guernica” is my favorite song from the album, although I’m kind of in love with every single song on it. My best friend actually has the album covered tattooed on his arm — It’s fantastic! Click here to look at it!
My Chemical Romance — Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
I “borrowed” this album from a friend of mine when I was sixteen years old and I still have it. I’ve listened to it so many times that when I hear a song from it on the radio or playing at random on my iPod, I naturally expect the next song on the CD to play after it’s over. I’ve tried liking the band aside from this album, and although some of their songs are catchy enough, I’ve never really enjoyed anything else they’ve done. Pretty much every single song on this album is my favorite though.
Muse — Absolution
The very first Muse song I ever listened to was “Butterflies and Hurricanes” and it was so pretty that I decided immediately after listening to it that they would be one of my all-time favorite bands. I was not mistaken. Muse is one of the very few bands that I can listen to who have multiple albums that I love. Black Holes and Revelations and The Resistance are my two other favorites, but Absolution is my first choice whenever I’m in the mood to listen to them.
The Queen of the Damned Soundtrack
This is probably the silliest one on the list, but this is my favorite soundtrack to any movie, ever. I don’t really listen to this type of music very much anymore but I still love all the songs — Especially the ones by KidneyThieves and Dry Cell. I loved that they had specific artists from popular rock bands on it, like the lead singer from Disturbed (which was my favorite band the entire time I was in high school) and Chester from Linkin Park. I also love Deftones so, so much and them being on the album makes it so much better. (And yes, I do love the movie, too. Shut up.)
Third Eye Blind — Third Eye Blind
I’m only choosing their self-titled album because it was their first — Third Eye Blind was one of the first bands I ever remember listening to and liking and they’re still in my Top 3 in terms of favorite bands ever. I have listened to, and subsequently loved, every single Third Eye Blind song that has ever been recorded. Nick says they’re bad (but he still likes them) and I want to punch him in the face. They’re perfect — They remind me of the most exciting parts of life. Drugs, summer, beaches and sex.
Here are some of my favorites that were really close to being in my Top 5 but didn’t quite make it:
Mumford & Sons — Sigh No More
Fall Out Boy — From Under the Cork Tree
Fun. — Aim and Ignite
Goo Goo Dolls — Dizzy Up the Girl
Tegan & Sara — The Con
