Sundays Are Beautiful!

I’ll start off by first telling you that up until very recently, Sundays were my least favorite day of the week. I would probably go so far as to say that I hated Sundays even — Lots of people were out in weird church clothes, stores closed early (if they were even open that day at all) and it meant that Monday was looming ever closer.

I guess the biggest influence on me learning to like the first (or last, depending on how you’re looking at it!) day of the week would be that it’s one of the two only days that Nick and I get to spend entirely together, morning to night, without having to go to work or otherwise be apart.

And I am one clingy motherfucker. =D

Since it’s the end of the month, Nick’s job requires him to work certain Saturdays and yesterday was one of them. It sucks having our weekend bonding time cut short, so we tried to make the best of the one day we did have — And it’s been great!

Just in case some of the people reading this don’t already know, Nick and I met almost a year ago through our local comic shop, eloquently named A Comic Shop. I’ve been thinking of doing a post on how our relationship started since I think it’s cute, so maybe that’ll come soon! 🙂

Anyway, we hadn’t been there in awhile since we moved a bit further away from the shop (among other reasons), but today was a good friend of ours’ birthday celebration so we made the trip over. I’m part of a group called Dinner and a Movie that’s sponsored by ACS and meets monthly to watch awesome movies, eat good food and hang out with great people. If you’re local, you should definitely check it out! That link goes to the Facebook page, and events are added every month!  🙂

It was even more fun because we picked up my old BFF who had a falling out with me almost a year ago (around the time Nick and I met; it’s complicated) since she and I have recently tried to reconcile and be friends again. Until these past few days, I haven’t seen or really spoken to her in about 9 months and we used to be 100% inseparable, so I’ve missed her and it’s been fun to hang out with her again. She’s friends with Joe and everyone at A Comic Shop too, so I invited her to the event and she agreed!

A lot of the people at the event were people I used to be really close to and have kind of lost touch with for various reasons, and it was amazing to see them all again and be accepted into their conversations and everything as if nothing had changed and months hadn’t gone by. I’m really lucky to know some incredible people — The fact that a large amount of them were met through comic books is just a nerdy little bonus!

We watched Joe’s picks — Beetlejuice The Cable Guy — and ate delicious kebabs and had cake pops that I brought over. I love both of the movies and the whole thing was really fun!

Afterward, we brought Jascelyn back to our apartment so she could see it and meet our puppy and bunny. It’s so weird hanging out with people you haven’t seen in a long period of time — Some people just have the ability to pick right back up and it’s so crazy to suddenly have someone back in your life who can finish your sentences and communicate almost telepathically with you!

We hung out for awhile and then brought her back to her church so she should hang out with her friends and new boyfriend. Then we decided to go on an adventure!

I love taking pictures with Instagram and lately Nick and I have liked taking the same picture to see how the other’s turns out, since it’s neat to see things from another perspective (and also because I love flaunting my iPhone’s superiority to his EVO). We picked a direction and drove for about half an hour, taking pictures of anything and everything we saw. We got lots of good ones, and I have a bunch more from the first half of our day!

Ben doing the Beetlejuice dance!

Mike “Triforce Mike” Pandel was a really great guy that had a car accident at the beginning of this year. It was an insane tragedy that had a huge effect on an insane amount of people, and little things like this are all over the shop. His two sisters signed the door in his memory.
Birthday boy and his girlfriend!

ACS is like nerdvana. It’s got SO MUCH.

T-Quizzle! We hadn’t seen him in ages. Nick’s photobombing 😦

One of my Top 5 Favorite Places. 🙂

I guess Nick wanted to be in it… Lol.

Stevie and Steve!

This magical place is called The Geek Easy. It’s located inside A Comic Shop and is a great hangout for nerds, beer affecionados, social outcasts and sixteen year olds! Lots of parties and events, lots of cool people and lots of nice memories.

A Comic Shop sponsors A Comic Book, which is a local publication put together by some really creative people. This particular issue is in memory of Mike — That’s the back of the book there to the left! Like I said, he touched a lot of people. In ways. 😉

This is when one of the guys that works there, Oral, said to me, “Bitch, I hope you’re not casing the place!” The crass nature of everybody who works there is endearing, I promise.

Ben and his girlfriend!

The shop is on 436 (Semoran), in the plaza across the street from Full Sail University. If you’ve never been, you should really go check it out.

And now for the pictures from the rest of the day!

Jascy recently went on a mission trip to Honduras. This is Honduran money!

Nick and puppy… “Bonding”. We watched Batman last night and Bane’s backbreaker on Batman is being re-enacted here for my viewing pleasure. Don’t worry! No puppies were harmed in the making of this photograph. 🙂

Accurate description of our personalities.

Cutiepies! 🙂 ❤

“Did you make a funny face!?”

I really do have like 6 air freshener trees hanging in my car. It’s pretty ridiculous.

Nick knew of this weird apartment complex that looked like a crazy castle! It was really cool, this is from inside.

ISN’T IT AMAZING?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

CAN YOU TELL THAT IT HAS A DRAWBRIDGE?! It’s the coolest apartment building I’ve ever seen, other than my friend Billy’s. He lives in a huge, comically orange building. It’s awesome. And yes. It’s private property and I trespassed to take pictures of the “No Trespassing” sign. I DO WHAT I WANT.

We drove through Downtown Orlando for awhile.

There’s a huge art store nearby called Sam Flax that Nick looooves. The side of the building is painted and it looks awesome!

“Look, I made you a sperm.” — Nick, at the Taco Bell drive thru with the straw wrapper. My boyfriend is SO MATURE, guys. 😛

Cantina Bowl is delicious.

This didn’t happen today, but I’m throwing it anyway because WHY NOT. It’s my growing herb garden! I’m so excited!

So, TLDR, I am a Sunday loving convert and had a wonderful day. I love the people and places in my life, and I’m so lucky to have them. 🙂

Awesome pictures. Really looked like a fun day! Now if only my Sundays were that awesome… D:

    • Haha, thank you! They can be! We like to just get in the car and pick a place we’ve never been to and try it out. Sometimes we go to old vintage stores, sometimes we try new restaurants, and sometimes we just drive around taking pictures of crazy things! You should try it! 🙂

  2. Do it! Let me know if you find anything awesome. 🙂
