To break and to rebuild

I realized that I haven’t had much in the way of an actual update in awhile. I’ve mostly been trying to spend my time sorting through things I thought we had left behind, and trying to pick up the broken pieces of my life that were left when I moved up north last year. This entire situation has turned into a six month setback, but the people I’ve met and the knowledge I’ve gained throughout are enough to keep me chugging along until my accomplishments exceed my aspirations.

I’ve finally secured a new job — Two, actually! The first is an online customer service type position, as an independent contractor. I’m very excited for this opportunity, as it will help provide additional experience for me to work with children and their parents. I’m hoping that I can learn enough to prepare me somewhat for my career choice — Teaching the 1st grade!

The second is a job that I’m also pretty excited about. I’m the newest member of Margaritaville Orlando, which is located at Universal Studios City Walk. I love working in atmospheres that are often hectic and busy, and have found that I thrive on fast-paced chaos. I’m hoping the excess of work-related chaos will encourage a reprieve of home-related chaos, so we’ll see how that goes.

Both positions come with their own perks — With the online job, I’m able to work from home and will have a very flexible schedule, as well as gain the experience mentioned above. With Margaritaville, I will be offered insurance benefits, which I desperately need since I’m not the healthiest of humans. I’ll also get free admission to over 5 different theme parks, including HARRY POTTER LAND! I’m so excited, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is literally one of the most fantastically magical places I’ve been to and I’m ridiculously overjoyed with being able to use my employee discount on Butterbeer! I’ll also get a limited amount of park passes for family and friends, as well as discounted tickets for when other people visit me!

I start both jobs next week. I’m nervous, because starting a single new job can sometimes be a stressful and difficult affair, not to mention TWO new jobs, but I’m going to focus on just getting used to how busy I’ll be and how much I’ll be doing. The income will be appreciated, since our setback has put us behind on a lot of our bills, but we’re on track now to finally getting caught up and I’m really looking forward to being able to wake up in the morning without worrying about what bills may be due that day.

Overall, things are starting to look up for the first time since December. In a couple of months, the apartment we’re subletting’s lease will be up and we’ll be able to move back into an apartment (finally!) and get all of our things from storage. Until then, we’re trying to save up as much as we can and get as caught up as possible on all of our bills so that once we’re living somewhere, we can have some stable money coming in with less of it going out to past due bills and such. 🙂

In other news! I’ve been using MyFitnessPal to log my calories every day and have lost 3 lbs already! I’m really excited and believe that this will be a real lifestyle change for myself — I’ve always made up excused about why I can’t eat healthy, but with the ease of the app on my phone and the ability to plan meals ahead of time, I’m already on track to a better, healthier life!

And of course, as always, pictures!
