Avalon’s 5th Annual Hippy Holidays Celebration!

Earlier this month, Nick and I took a Saturday afternoon and went to a local festival hosted by a nearby shop that specializes in spirituality, stones, herbs and other cool Pagan-friendly stuff. They have a really helpful staff, tons of books and loads of neat things to look at! It’s one of my most favorite stores and every time I go there I find something new and exciting to read or experiment with!

This was our first time going to one of their events, and it was a lot larger than we thought it’d be! It took up the whole parking lot and featured several vendors of everything from tye-dye baby clothes and ocarinas to handmade jewelry and even a Henna booth with an experiences artist!

It was so much fun and we really had a great time! So many people were there, and everyone was so friendly and nice the entire time. We picked up a few Christmas gifts for family members as well as some new stones for the two of us and a couple of additional things for my altar. They apparently have a similar festival in the summertime — Weather permitting, we may go next year!

I took lots of pictures — I semi-apologize in advance about my insane overuse of lens flare and film distortion. I downloaded Afterlight and can’t get enough, sorrynotsorry. 😉

Days that start with coffee and snowman cookies have to be good. It’s a rule.

I ~love!~ things that make bathtime even better. LOVE.

I have no clue what this was and we forgot to ask. It was on the outside of the event — I don’t know if it was part of the other parking lot or what. Maybe some sort of offering? I have no idea!

This guy made these. He has a specific one that sounds just like the Ocarina from Zelda! I wanted it but he only had one and someone else bought it while we were inside the store. He has an Etsy shop though — I’ll find it soon!

Did you know that henna tattoos are intended to be a symbolic representation of the outer and the inner sun in traditional Vedic culture? I didn’t either! I was so impressed with the detail that the artist had done on some of his previous clients. When I sat down and told him what I wanted, he started on my hand and didn’t stop for about 20 minutes. The end result was nothing like the design I picked originally, and I didn’t mind at all — He said he felt like he “should” give me vines, and I’ve been really trying to focus on staying grounded recently so I thought that was amazing and am all about intuition and following your gut! I loved the end result and will be sad when it fades away because it’s been reminding me to take things one step at a time and just breathe.

Overall, it was an amazing time! I’ve never felt so supported by someone and was so grateful to share the day with Nick and to learn so many new things with him! The shop is a place I’d highly recommend to anyone local — I can almost guarantee you’ll find something in there that you want to take home with you!
