I read 17 books in the month of December! This was a really strong way to end out the year – and I gave almost everything above 4 stars, so the quality was just as good as the quantity. Check out my full book wrap-up below, and please feel free to comment and share links to your own, or leave your thoughts on any of the books I’ve mentioned! 😀
Physical Books Read
1) Carrie by Stephen King

This was my first time reading Carrie, and I really enjoyed it! I buddy read this with my friend Rianne, and it was pretty quick to get through. I felt so bad for Carrie so many times while reading!
2) Hark! The Herald Angels Scream edited by Christopher Golden
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
I loved this little Christmas horror themed collection! It was so varied, and had so many different writers I love – and some I hadn’t heard of, but have now added to my “must read” list! Read my full review here.
3) The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
I co-hosted a readalong for this one with my friend Carissa! I’m no stranger to Jennifer McMahon’s writing (I own 3 other books by her, and have loved them all!), but this was my first time reading anything ‘horror-esque’ by her. I absolutely loved it, and so did the people participating in the readalong! Read my full review here.
4) Bones by Andrew Cull
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
Andrew offered this book to me in exchange for an honest review, and I’m so Read my full review heregrateful because it’s one of my favorites of all of 2018! It’s a collection of 4 short stories (plus a bonus piece at the end!), and I can’t even choose a fav because they’re all that good. .
5) Puppet Skin by Danger Slater
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
I loved this weird little story about Hannah and her wooden-y world! This is my first by the author, but definitely not my last – I bought 2 more by him so I can read those in the new year!
6) Unmemory by Kristi DeMeester
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨
This little chapbook was included in the Night Worms first book subscription box, and it was great! I really enjoyed the illustrations especially – so creepy and unsettling!
7) N0S4R2 by Joe Hill
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
This was my second time reading this, and it remains to be one of my all-time Top 10 favorite books. As mentioned (repeatedly, forever), I LOVE CHRISTMAS HORROR. Christmasland is so good, and this book makes me tear up every time I read it. I co-hosted a readalong of this, and there were over 300 uses of the hashtag! And so many people loved it, too. I even convinced my roommate to read it! Such a success.
8) Wraith by Joe Hill
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
This was my first time reading this, although it provided so much backstory to N0S4A2 that I highly recommend it to anyone reading the book!
9) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Pop Classics)
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
Such a cute little kid’s book! Sent over by Quirk Books, this was an adorable book to end the year with – little Buffy, her friends, and so many bad guys!
10) Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
Another great one for younger readers!! I love Neil Gaiman forever, and want to read more of his stuff in the new year because each one I finish is a new favorite.
Kindle / eBooks Read
1) I Am Not Your Final Girl by Claire C. Holland
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
I read this on my Kindle and immediately had to purchase the physical copy because it was so good. Full review to come!
2) Stirring the Sheets by Chad Lutzke
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨
This was such a sad story! Loved it.
3) Dead Lake by Darcy Coates
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨
I gave this one 3.5 stars – my first by Darcy, and it was quick and fun to get through. I’ll read others by hers, the covers of the haunted house ones specifically look really good!
4) The Bedding of Boys by Edward Lorn
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨
This was such a hard one to rate because, while I loved the writing and certain characters, I also hated the main lady (for good reason). The subject matter here and content may be very triggering/disgusting to some people, so definitely read a few reviews on what the book’s about before purchasing if you know you have some sensitivities to things.
5) Dark Flash (1) by Maria Haskins
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨
I’ve been loving short flash fiction lately and Maria’s was great!
6) Dark Flash (2) by Maria Haskins
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨✨
I’ll definitely be reading the 3rd collection ASAP!
7) A Human Stain by Kelly Robson
Link to Goodreads | My Rating: ✨✨✨
A short little novella, this was the last thing I read in 2018. While I did like the writing a lot, it was a bit confusing to me and eventual reveal wasn’t at all what I was expecting – and I’m not quite sure I liked it. It could definitely work for some people though so I would check it out if you think the synopsis on Goodreads sounds interesting!
QUEEN! I’m so glad to see that you really enjoyed your December reads!!
