I was recently tagged by Meeghan (@ MeeghanReads, go check out her blog here!), and I am super flattered & honored! I didn’t know this was even a thing, and am so happy that someone out there likes reading my blog enough to tag me for it! Thank you so much, ahhh! π
From her blog, “The Versatile Blogger Award, an award given to bloggers by bloggers, is a fun way to discover new blogs.” Yay!! I need more blogging friends, so IΒ love this. If you’re a book blogger (any genres tbh, I just love reading about books), feel free to leave a comment so I can follow you. π

7 Facts About Me!
1) I watch everything with subtitles. πΊ
I sometimes have trouble comprehending things presented to me in an auditory way, so having subtitles to read along with movies & shows helps me a lot. It’s not that I can’t hear or anything, but my brain just absorbs things in a different way, I guess, and I’ll have a hard time understanding entire chunks of dialogue. I don’t go to theaters super often because my preferred method is like this (& at home, where I can pause for snacks and bathroom breaks, if I’m being honest, lol), although it’s not a total deal-breaker, so I do see things I’mΒ reallyΒ excited for. I just pay attention really, really closely, haha. And I usually end up finding I’ve missed at least one thing when I rewatch it with subtitles later! π€·
2) I don’t like to feel unproductive, or to have a lot of open “free time”.
Having too much free time makes me anxious because I start to feel really unproductive, which makes me feel worse about myself / my life / things in general. To avoid this, I end up overloading myself with too much, and then get burnt out. Since recognizing this, I’ve been trying to work on finding balance between the two. I’ve been saying “no” to more things (even if it makes me feel guilty sometimes), and I’ve set little goals for myself so that I can feel rewarded for my effort along the way.
Right now, I’ve got 4 part-time jobs (which equals around 50 – 60 hours per week), volunteering at my local library with a couple of kids programs I help run, have an Etsy that I promote & fill orders for pretty regularly, I write this blog (hence my occasional lulls – sorry, y’all!), and I sometimes post stuff in other places. It’s a lot, but I enjoy most of it, so not bad!
3) Two-thirds of my first crushes ever were on Star Trek characters.
When I was a little kid, I told my dad I loved Data and wanted to grow up to marry him. Probably not thinking (or more likely not caring, tbh, lol), he told me, “Well, he’ll never love you because he can’t feel real emotions.” I cried, it was very sad! π My second crush was on Billy from Power Rangers (shutΒ up), but then my third was on Seven of Nine. I still maintain that she is badass and dreamy af. π
4) I haveΒ a lot of time logged on The Sims 4.
Like… Maybe almost 2,000 hours? It’s so good, haha.
5) I’ve been drawing since I was 3, and painting for about 4 years now!
6) A lot of my favorite bands sound kind of the same, but I’ll listen to almost anything musically, and have favorite songs in most genres.
Click here for a Spotify playlist of some of my favorite songs by my favorite bands! I have a pretty specific taste – I call it my “angsty, emo, I-didn’t-grow-out-of-the-mid-2000s” music. π
7) I love cereal. Like, a lot.
My favorites are Fruity Pebbles & Rice Krispy Treats cereal (not regular rice krispies, but the sweet ones in a purple box!), but I honestly like almost any cereal, ever. I often go months without cereal, then remember it exists and eat it constantly for a few weeks before repeating the cycle. There’s so much variety, too! Chocolate or fruity or nuts or… I’m making myself hungry.
Umm, 1000 times YES to the Sims 4 and angsty-emo-I-didn’t-grow-out-of-the-mid-2000s music. I basically live with a repeated soundtrack of FOB, MCR, All Time Low, All-American Rejects and Jimmy Eat World. I break it up with some Brit-indie-rock songs from the Wombats and the Fratellis. This is then punctuated with some Dandy Warhols, Green Day, Chainsmokers, and I throw in some Tay Tay for spice. (All of this is of course glazed with a whole bunch of Aussie hip-hop that I am addicted to.)
YESS ALL THAT MUSIC IS MY FAVORITE!! I go from EVERYTHING you listened to like Childish Gambino, Disney music, then a ton of 90s pop, hahahaha. It’s so good to have variety, I don’t understand people who stick to a single genre!
OMG YES!! I am down with ALL of the above. Disney singalongs are so good, and I have a dedicated 90s playlist on Spotify ππ

Thanks for the tag!
Also I feel you on being unproductive, and also definitely the sims.. Hahah! First thing I did after coming home after my last exam was playing sims :p
(Www.evelynreads.com)
Sims is amazing, I wait til I have nothing responsibility-wise to do, then dive in for days on end! Hahaha.
Thank you so much for the nomination, Cassie! I also watch everything with subtitles on and wow your Sims 4 game is strong. An icon.
Thank you so much for the tag! what the hell, sometimes I SWEAR we are twins separated at birth. π I freaked out over your bit about the subtitles because I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who has the same issue as me before, but I’m the same way! I can hear fine, I just don’t *process* things well when I hear them, so it makes watching ANYTHING without subtitles such a pain in the ass. We almost never go to the theatres and that’s a big part of why.
I also don’t do well with free time! It honestly plummets my mental health. I actually started playing a new mobile game about a week ago that’s SUPER mindless and requires basically no thinking at all, and I don’t think it’s any coincidence that every day that I’ve played it for any amount of time at all, my mood’s been funky all day. I’m actually uninstalling it once I grab my phone from the other room. π No clue if any of this makes sense or just sounds like the ramblings of a ridiculous person, but what can ya do.
Hahaha, I feel the same way sometimes reading your posts! The subtitles thing is so hard to explain to people who don’t understand what I mean. “So, you can’t hear properly?” “No, I can hear, it just sort of… doesn’t make sense as words sometimes.” “But you hear them as words?” “Yes… I just… don’t interpret them easily?” And then weird looks from people, lmao. I also can’t deal if people talk during something I’ve never seen before – the only way I can hear multiple things and tune any out is if they’re SUPER familiar (like the same episodes of The Office repeatedly, lol), so people talking just throws me off ’cause I can’t focus on them talking AND the movie people talking! Ahh!! lol
UGH SAME! I love having plans, or at least things to do. When I don’t feel productive it makes me feel awful! It totally makes sense, hahaha, don’t worry!!
