New haircuts are the best!

I’ve been contemplating cutting my hair for the last several months, but was kind of worried about making the change ’cause I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. I’ve had shorter hair most of my life, but for the last 6 years or so, have been growing it out. I’ve only done minor trims and upkeep in that time, and was kind of surprised at how long it’d gotten recently, so the thought of a drastic change seemed… well, drastic!

That all said, I am a very impressionable girl. I’ve been binge watching Veronica Mars for the last few days, and can we all just agree that Kristen Bell is an absolute adorable little badass in that show? And she’s so perky, with such cute hair! I’m obsessed. I knew I had to give myself the chop, so the decision was made mid-episode, and I hopped in the shower for THE BIG CHANGE!

I’m not a hairdresser, and I’ve never been to school for cosmetology. I’ve only done my hair (and my mom’s, plus some people who paid me in high school, do they count?), but there’s been a lot of trial-and-error to my dyeing ways, so I really feel happier doing things myself than risking someone else makes an error or choice that I wouldn’t.

I probably should’ve bought sharper scissors, but I didn’t let my toolset deter me. After my shower, I hopped out, grabbed a fistful of my hair, and started hacking away. Literally – my hair was kind of thick and I had to almost chop at it? I’m sure anyone reading this would be appalled if they’ve actually gone to school to learn the proper way of cutting hair, and I’m sorry to offend, but it is what it is!

I had my roommate (who is the very best ever, and also my spot checker in all things, shout out & thank you, Rich!) help me make sure that the back was relatively straight across and not super wonky, and that was it! It was done, I was relieved, and I love it!

It feels so much lighter and easy to manage than it did before, and I loooove having a swingy little rainbow cut! I was fine with my hair before, but I’m kind of not-so-lowkey obsessed with it now. I don’t typically have very good self-esteem with things like this, so I’m enjoying it while I’ve got it! 😀

I’m so happy with it! Perfect for summertime! 🌈

Feel free to comment & tell me what you think, but only if you’re nice, ’cause ain’t nobody got time for your negativity! 😛

  1. The short cut brings out the colors more if that makes any sense.

    • Thank you so much! I totally get what you’re saying, weirdly I think so too! Maybe it’s ’cause it’s not blending into my shirt, so there’s a bit more separation? Either way, I love it!
