I am so into match-y match-y things, friends. These covers are beautiful! I was so excited to open my @night_worms package and see these! Jonathan Janz is one of my faaaavorite writers, and I'd never read anything by Brian Keene before, so this was a great intro to receive!⁠ ⁠ The last package was themed "A STORM IS COMING", and the stuff inside it was super cool! The rainbow tabs especially were bananas useful to me, 'cause those are the exact ones I normally use and I'd misplaced my own, hahaha.⁠ ⁠ Are you a @night_worms subscriber? You should be! Each month it's like a spooky little Christmas at your doorstep, and I love it! I love the cover of this one so much! Who else can spot a Daniele Serra cover the second they see it? How is every single one he does SO cool and creepy and wonderful?! I'm having a fangirl moment, friends.⁠ ⁠ I got this one from @dbhfiction, who is a pretty rad guy and one I'd suggest befriending here in the bookstagramosphere! This is the first book of his I'll be reading, and it sounds super good!⁠ ⁠ This one is supposed to be the first in a "serialized adventure horror epic" called Nightmareland, which I am 100% here for, ya'll. I sometimes hesitate to post things that aren't horror or spooky, because so many of the people I follow and admire on here are heavily into the horror type stuff.⁠ ⁠ That said, I always convince myself to just "do you, booboo", even if "you" isn't 100% spooky, 100% of the time - or, maybe it is, but only inside your dark little heart like me! 😉⁠ ⁠ This is one of my "contemporary" genre books, and one I haven't actually read yet! I picked it up on my trip to England last year at a Waterstones 'cause the cover was way cooler than the ones I'd seen in the US bookstores. Today is #worldmentalhealthday, and while I don’t save my mental health talk for a single day of the year only, I do think it’s very important to spread awareness as often as possible - including hashtag days, yay!! 🙌 I suffer from terrible anxiety, depression, and borderline personality disorder. I don’t usually talk about that last one to people who aren’t extremely close to me, but unfortunately, as part of the disorder heavily impacts my ability to actually have close relationships with people, that ends up meaning I don’t really talk about it very often. BPD is characterized by unstable and volatile relationships with people, mainly because it impacts how you think about the people around you (and yourself). Living with the disorder can include - but is definitely not limited to - having an unstable self-image, trouble regulating emotions, severe fear of abandonment (or perceived abandonment), impulsive and self-destructive behaviors, and constant, overwhelming feelings of emptiness. That all sounds pretty awful, right? And it is! It has been for most of my life, and I imagine that it’ll continue to be well into my future. No mental health issues are easy, and so many of us are struggling inside ourselves in so many different ways. Awfulness aside, my anxiety and my depression, and even my BPD are just little parts of who I am. And even with those parts, I’m still worth knowing, and I’m still deserving of love and kindness. The harsher parts of who I am, the ones that have been made rough by bad thoughts or poor choices or angry actions - those parts may be more apparent sometimes, but they aren’t all I am. I’m still strong, and kind, and loving, and I can still be soft - albeit maybe a different, rougher kind of soft than I may have expected. I still can't get over how pretty these two books by @scottthomascaresaboutyou look next to each other! They have their own distinct vibes (and are about totally different things!), but when you look at them together, they just look like they belong, don't they? How do you organize your TBRs? Do you plan in advance, or just pull whatever strikes your fancy in the moment from off of the shelf? Recently, I'll admit, I tend to prioritize ARCs sent to me - like this gorgeous beauty right here! I don't accept every review request sent, so the ones I do get in the mail are typically always ones I want to dive into ASAP. For this reason, I'm usually reading about 4 - 5 books at a time. Short story collections take me the longest to read, because I've found that if I rush through them, the individual stories stand out from one another less. So I read a couple, then wait a bit - maybe read something in between to cleanse my palate with another writer's "voice" - and then I go back and read a few more! Does anyone else do this?
