Isn't this book cover gorgeous? And that's WITHOUT the sleeve! IT'S THE ACTUAL BOOK! I got this one from the library for $1, and it's one of my favorites for the cover (although it's one of the King books I haven't read yet!).⁠ ⁠ Have you read LISEY'S STORY? I've been trying to branch out a bit genre wise with my #branchout2020 project, and this is one of the titles I've done it with this year! I'm not normally a big historical fiction / contemporary type person, but I'd heard so many good things about THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO, and wanted to give it a shot!⁠ ⁠ I grabbed this one on Audible, and LOVED it so much, omg! I'd HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this one as an audiobook if you can, because the cast was so compelling and entertaining. The book itself is great too though, even just reading - I had a copy from the library that I had to return (before getting it on Audible), so when it came time for my BotM pick, I knew what I had to do!⁠ ⁠ Fun fact: the author, Taylor Jenkins Reid, also wrote DAISY JONES & THE SIX! That's another one I'd very much recommend listening to if you can, 'cause the way the characters and story format come to life when listening is UNREAL. Both books are so good, and feature some really interesting and well crafted characters. Who else loves a good readalong or buddy read? With the #nightwormsbookparty group of folks, I'm able to enjoy this feeling of almost book club-y goodness, and it's so awesome!⁠ ⁠ I'll have individual posts showing each of these off with my ratings soon, but wanted to give a little cover love to the two cuties I'm in the middle of reading now with my @night_worms crew!⁠ ⁠ THE GREEN KANGAROOS by Jessica McHugh is described as "sci-fi / horror", dealing with drugs and addiction. I saw it compared in a review to "Transpotting meets A Clockwork Orange meets The Matrix" (thanks @dangerslater for the GR quote!), which is all up in my alley, so I am really excited to read it!⁠ ⁠ And then we have WHISPERS IN THE DARK, by Laurel Hightower, and this is one of my current "most recommended" by friends that I own! I've heard it talked about as a supernatural horror/thriller, which are some of my fav genres to read. Hi friends! If you’ve been following my stories or me on Twitter, you’ll have seen that the last few weeks have been a struggle for me mentally. My anxiety and depression tend to show off when I’m least expecting it, and this time, I’ve had a lot of trouble pulling myself out of my bad head space. Last night, for the first time in years, I sat at my computer and started to write. I have so much insecurity, so much self doubt, so many reasons for why I CANT do things - I’ll be bad, they’ll suck, everyone will laugh at me! But I started to write anyway, and would you believe that I quickly lost track of time and spent almost FOUR HOURS getting stuff down??? 😳😳 I’m not sure at what point I’ll share my writing - it’s mostly horror in genre, with some other elements im noticing as I go - if I do at all. But the feeling of actually doing it has been so wonderful, and I’m feeling a bit better today than I have in the last 2 weeks. So here’s to hoping!!
